Awards of the II Short Story Competition

24/06/2004 Arturo Martínez Musitu, from Vitoria, is awarded the first prize with a story entitled "Al aire" (Air).

Spanish over 18 age group:

First prize, including 450 euros and diploma, for the story entitled "Al aire" (Air) by Arturo Martínez Musitu, from Vitoria-Gasteiz.
Second prize, including 350 euros and diploma, for the story entitled "La ventana" (The Window) by José Salvador Goig Martínez, from Alcobendas (Madrid).
Third prize, including 250 euros and diploma, to the story entitled "Recuerdos de un monaguillo" (Memories of an altar boy) by Asela Ortiz de Murua Fernández de Ortega, from Vitoria-Gasteiz.

Books with dedicatory inscription to Guillermina Díaz Cortés, Carlos Albert González de Diego, Nieves García Benito and Eduardo Llinas Arjona.

Spanish 12 to 18 age group:

First prize, including 200 euros and diploma, for the story entitled "Las piedras también lloran" (Stones also cry) by Esther Gómez Herreruela, from Vitoria-Gasteiz.
Second prize, including 150 euros and diploma, for the story entitled "La máquina del tiempo y la Catedral de Santa María" (The time machine and the Santa Maria Cathedral) by Aitor Boutefeu Besga, of Vitoria-Gasteiz.
Third prize, including 100 euros and diploma, for the story entitled "La visionaria" (The visionary) by Ana González Gastón, of Vitoria-Gasteiz.

Books with dedicatory inscription to Iván Corres Lorenzo, Cecilia Ferreira Gómez, Raúl Herrero Santamaría, Lorea Larrabide Eguren, Adrián López de Armentia Abelaira, Daniel Pérez Mozo and Alejandra Rodríguez Medina.

Basque over 18 age group:

First prize, including 450 euros and diploma, for the story entitled "Urteurrena" by Katixa Aguirre Miguélez, of Vitoria-Gasteiz.

The jury has decided not to award second and third prizes.

Basque 12 to 18 age group:

The jury has decided not to award first, second or third prizes in this category.

The prize winning stories shall remain the property of the Santa Maria Cathedral Foundation which reserves the right to publish any of the works presented without the obligation to pay copyright to the owner, as specified in the conditions of the contest.

The award giving ceremony will be held on 14 July in the Cultural Centre Montehermoso of Vitoria-Gasteiz, coinciding with the inauguration of the joint photography-painting exhibition.
