The Santa Maria Cathedral Foundation dedicates the didactic workshop of February to show the children the work- trades that built the cathedral and the building materials that have been used

2010/02/24 It will beginn at 10.30am, in basque and spanish, and it will have a duration of two hours and a half. The proposal is: Did you realise? Santa Maria is born!

         Vitoria- Gasteiz, 24th Februar 2010-  The Santa Maria Cathedral Foundation has the proposal to maintain the didactic workshops for children during the year. The workshops will be the last saturday every month and this week we will have the workshop titlled:´Did you realised? Santa Maria is born!´. In this enjoyable workshop the children will have the opportunity to know the materials, the tools and the constructive systems that they have benn used to built the temple, and also the different work trades that worked building the cathedral.
             The workshop will beginn with a visit inside the cathedral where they will learn what is the mortar, the workinn tools and the different types of stone. They will also learn about about the work- trades, how were they organised and the work that the stonemasons, the carpenters .et.c. have done. After seeing the arches, pilars, and vaults they will understand how was built the Santa Maria Cathedral. After this visit they will do some practices and handicrafts.
The workshop will begin at at 10.30am, it will last till 13.00pm. and as usual are bilingual (in basque and spanish). We will make a group of 20 children between 8 and 11 years old. The  price will be of 1 € for the members of the Foundres Circle( and their children) and of 3 € for the no members.
