The Santa Maria Cathedral celebrates the St. James´ Year with three spiritual european music concerts

2010/07/05 It is a music cycle organised by the Spanish Society of Cultural Commemorations (SECC)

              Vitoria- Gasteiz, 2010 July 5th.-  The Santa Maria Cathedral will celebrate during July the St. James´Year, and in collaboration with  SECC ( Spanish Society of Cultural Commemorations) they will offer three concerts of spiritual european music. The first concert will be offered by Speculum this Saturday on July 10th at 8.00pm.Inside the cycle called ¨St. James´Year´, the central nave of Santa Maria Cathedral will be the scene of three concerts to listen spiritual and profane european music for demanding the St. James´Way as a meeting point between different cultures.The spanisch group Speculum will offer the first concert on July 10th. Formed by eight musicians, four voices anf four instruments, they will present the program ´Pilgrims mass. The door of paradide´ with authors like Llibre Vernell ( XIVth century), Teobaldo de Navarra ( XIIIth century), Francesco Landini ( XIVth century) and Paolo de Firenze ( XVth century).The tickets will be available at the Cathedral´s Store on Monday 5th and Tuesday 6th for the members of the Founders´ Circle paying 1€  from 10.00am till 14.30pm and from 16.30 till 20.00pm. On Wednesday the tickets will be available for the rest paying 3€.A week later, the italian group Odhecaton, formed by eight men´s voices directed by Paolo Da Col, will present  Guillaume Dufay´s ´ Sancti Jacobi Mass´ ( 1400-1474). This goup had received during the last four years the best reviews about their three albums.On July 24th, the group coming from Galicia,  called Ars Combinatoria and directed by Canco López, has prepared the ´Medieval dances and poems´ program. It is formed by four women´s voices and seven men´s voices.
