Santa Maria Cathedral organises a new edition of the summer workshops for children

2011/06/03 There will be three workshops with  one week duration

Vitoria- Gasteiz, 3rd June 2011.- Santa Maria Cathedral Foundation has organised a new edition of the summer workshops for children on july. There will be three shifts of one week duration. This year they will visit the Salt Valley of Añana again, and they will also visit the basilica in Armentia and Maria Inmaculada Cathedral.

The workshop is bilingual ( spanish and basque) and for children between 8 and 11 years old.

The first workshop will begin on 4th July until 8th July, the second one on 11th July until 15th and the last one on 18th July until 22nd. Each day has a duration of three hours, from 10am until 1pm, except for the last day that will be until 2pm due to the visit to the Salt Valley of Añana.

The title of the first day of each workshop will be ´Hello Cathedral´ . The children will discover the materials and the constructive systems and they will make a T- shirt with the cathedral´s logo. They will wear this T- shirt during the whole workshop.


The second day will be dedicated to the Medieval Old Town and particularly to the medieval wall of the city. With the title ´Remembering the city wall´ they will visit it and they will create their own defensive tower using recycled materials.

´The route of three cathedrals´will be the topic the third day. They will learn the gothic style of the cathedral, and then they will visit the basilica in Armentia, the first cathedral of our territory, with a romanesque style; and Maria Inmaculada Cathedral, the third cathedral, where they will discover the neogothic style.

On Thursday, the day will be dedicated to St. James Way, and the children will make a pilgrim with different materials.

On the last day they will visit the Salt Valley of Añana, where the will produce their own salt.

The price of the workshop is 50€, and 30€ for the members of the Founders Circle. It is necessary to make a reservation in the Visitor´s Reception Center ( Plaza Burulleria) or calling to 945 255 135.
