Santa Maria Cathedral Foundation publishes the book with the winners of the third short stories contest

         Vitoria- Gasteiz, 2011 December 7th.- Santa Maria Cathedral Foundation has published a book with the winner stories of the third short stories contest. Around 30 works have been presented in basque and spanish with the restoration of the cathedral as the main topic. Santa Maria Cathedral Foundation organized this contest entitled ´Once upon a time the Cathedral´ for the third time for dynamizing the local literature and also to know the perception of the citizenship about this project.

More than 30 works have been presented in three of the four categories that we planned, in basque and spanish for young people between 12 and 17 years old, and older than 18 years old.

The winners are:

Spanish and older than 18 years old ( no work presented by children between 12 and 17 years old)

1- ´La ciudad dormida´, by Eduardo Llinás Arjona

2- ´Traduttore traditore´, by Javier LAtorre Guinea

3- ´Ardiente Te Deum´, by Laura Maria Camarma

It is also included a very special story written by a girls group of the Occupational Centre for people with Intelectual Disability of Lakua. Itziar and Izaskun Asenjo, Felisa Lozano and Aitziber Pérez de Heredia sent a letter with the sort story and explained that they wanted to take part in this contest because ´´there are few constests for intelectual handicapped persons in Vitoria, and we wanted to take part in this interesting one´´. In this centre they have also a short stories workshop.

To recognize their effort, the jury has decided to make a special mention to their short story and include it in the publication.




In basque older than 18 years old:

In basque between 12 and 17 years old:

1- ´Apuri txikia´, by Ainhoa Ormazabal Elorza

2- ´Bakardadeko ametsak´, by Miren Antxone Nafarrate Muñoa

The winners will see their short story published in a book that it is to buy in the Visitors Reception Center ( Plaza Burullería) for 5€. They have been published 500 books.
