The children, protagonist of the Santa Maria Cathedral Christmas cards

2011/12/19 The cards drawn by the six winners of the christmas cards contest have been already published and sent 

           Vitoria- Gasteiz, 19th December 2011.-  The drawings of six chidren from Vitoria  will be the Christmas card of Santa Maria Cathedral Foundation this year. These cards show the tower of the cathedral with the Virgin Mary, Baby Jesus and St. Joseph playing football,  an ´Open for Christmas´ cathedral e.t.c.

Santa Maria Cathedral asked the children  their help on September to design the Christmas cards to congratulate the Christmas time. ´Santa Maria Cathedral and Christmas time´ is the title of the contest that the Foundation  organized for children between 3 and 11 years old.

Two categories have been established: one for children between 3 and 5 years old, and the other one for children between 6 and 11 years old. Each one could participe with two unpublished drawings.

Santa Maria Cathedral Foundation received more than 40 works in both categories. The winners are:

Between 3 and 5 years old


-  Saioa de Bernedo López de Armentia, 4 years old

-  Asier Landaburu Arroyo, 5 years old

-  Markel Rama Elguea, 4 years old


Between 6 and 11 years old

- Iker Aguirre Uza, 7 years old

- Sheila Busto Prado, 10 years old

- Estíbaliz Garrido Pérez de Onraita, 8 years old

The participants have drawn an ´Open for Christmas´ cathedral, the portico as a crib, or Olentzero arriving with christmas gifts. Details from Alava are also to see, like a snake or the green colour of Vitoria- Gasteiz as european green capital during 2012.
