Buttressing of pillars. (1998)

Simultaneously the first structural shoring work was carried out, consisting of the placement of a series of supporting arches and stays in the larger naves, both in the central hall and in the north and south arms of the transept. The arches were formed by metal tubes anchored in the stonework and were intended to stabilize the seemingly more unstable areas of the Cathedral, according to data obtained by the movement monitoring system established there since 1994. All these supports have been removed bit by bit as the final consolidation works have progressed and are no longer in the Cathedral.
